How I Built ScrollTours: Property Tours That Move With Your Thumb

Real estate video tours are either expensive productions or a YouTube link nobody clicks. I built ScrollTours to turn plain phone walkthroughs into immersive, scroll-driven tours with lead capture, QR codes, and analytics built into every one.

How I Built ScrollTours: Property Tours That Move With Your Thumb

Real estate listing videos have a problem. Either an agent pays for a professional production that takes a week to turn around, or they upload a shaky walkthrough to YouTube and hope someone watches past the first ten seconds. Neither one captures a lead.

So I built ScrollTours — a platform that turns simple phone walkthroughs into immersive, scroll-driven property tours. The buyer controls the pace with their thumb, every tour has a built-in inquiry form, and each one gets a clean URL and QR code for listings, signage, and print.

What It Does

An agent walks through a listing with their phone — no gimbal, no editing software. They upload the clips, and ScrollTours turns them into a room-by-room tour where the video scrubs frame-by-frame as the buyer scrolls. It feels less like watching a video and more like walking the house yourself.

  • Scroll-driven playback — each clip plays as you scroll, so the buyer sets the pace
  • Branded landing page — full-screen cover photo, address, beds/baths/sq ft, and the agent's card on every tour
  • Lead capture — an inquiry form built into the tour, with instant email alerts the moment someone reaches out
  • Analytics — views, watch-through, and which rooms hold attention
  • Link & QR sharing — one link does the work of a video, a brochure, and a lead form

The Fun Parts

Scroll-scrubbed video — The core trick is mapping scroll position to video time. Instead of a play button, the tour advances frame-by-frame with the scroll wheel or a thumb. Making raw phone footage scrub smoothly took real work behind the scenes — the agent never sees any of it, they just upload clips.

A mobile capture app — There's a companion iPhone app for capturing walkthroughs room by room, so the footage arrives already organized instead of as one twelve-minute file.

Listing import — Paste a listing URL and ScrollTours pulls the address and key facts to pre-fill the tour's landing page, so setup takes minutes.

Every tour opens with a branded landing page

The Stack

A SvelteKit web app with Postgres and Clerk auth, hosted on Railway, plus a companion iPhone capture app built with Expo.

Try It

The homepage at scroll-tours.com has a live demo tour — scroll through it and you'll get it immediately. If you're an agent (or you know one), you can create your first tour from a weekend's worth of phone footage.
